Stella Maris by Cormac McCarthy

Well. I have to say as much as I loved The Passenger, Stella Maris blew my mind by changing the context of the entire other novel. What I thought I’d already read, was something entirely different. It was beautiful and terrible and painful… but also at times, hilarious. Perfect in all these things.

There is no one else like McCarthy and I don’t there will be for a really long time.

Stella Maris has made me want to reread The Passenger now that I fully understand the context in which it exists. I think next year I may reread in reverse order starting with this one and the The Passenger. For anyone going in for the first time, I do not recommend the until you’ve read them both in the intended order.

What a freaking trip.
